Advocacy
Nora reported on the Spring neighborhood clean-up. There was a great turnout of volunteers including sixteen firefighters and their families and seven volunteers from community corrections. Large turnout ensured coverage of large portions of the neighborhood.
Weed-n-Seed
Annie reported that the weed-n-seed committee is conducting an updated survey of residents in the program neighborhoods to get a better idea of the impact of the program so far. The committee hopes to survey attendees at the Blood-n-Fire food pantry and the ice cream social.
Committee is planning events for the National Night Out. This year the event will be held on the first Tuesday of August (need confirmation).
Bob
Ball reported that the W-n-S liaison officer Jason Todd indicated
that even with W-n-S subsidized overtime, the MPD is stretched thin
in the W-n-S target areas.
Old Business:
DeWayne reported that the water tank (for watering plants in the traffic island and parkways) has been purchased.
Annie
reported that the Minnetrista Farmer's Market people have apparently
lost the ECNA's application to participate in the Farmer's market.
Apparently we will be able to participate anyway.
New Business:
MSP motion to allow Marie to purchase stamps.
Cheryl Crowder (from Muncie Downtown) wants to borrow our tables and chairs for the summer fest on 19 June 2010. Discussion of proposal to “trade” of the use of our equipment for a discount on the booth space fee for the “Rib Fest” in August.
Festival Meeting at Chris' home (232 N. Monroe)
A
family has apparently moved in the the condemned home at 216 N.
Vine. Apparently the Muncie housing authority refuses to do anything
due to a lack of funds.
The meeting was adjourned at 7:10 pm (due to tornado warning)
Addendum:
On 9 July 2010 Annie moved (via e-mail) that the Association offer an extended association membership to new members who sign up between the Ice Cream Social and the Chili Supper in October. New members would pay the standard membership fees and their memberships would not expire until October 2011. The motion was seconded and over the next several days a majority of the board members indicated their support of the motion.
